FORT WALTON BEACH, FLA – The Island Resort is thrilled to announce its exciting holiday lineup, guaranteed to bring joy and cheer to guests and the local community throughout the festive season. From beachside gatherings to encounters with holiday characters, The Island Resort invites all to celebrate the holidays with their remarkable events.
Light Up The Island: A Display of Lights and Music
To kick off the most wonderful time of year, prepare to witness The Island Resort bathed in holiday cheer at, “Light Up The Island,” on November 26, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. This free public event promises a spectacular evening filled with festive music and an interactive lighting display that will set the resort aglow.
Last year featured performances by the Liza Jackson Band and the Fort Walton Beach High School Chorus. This year, we’re excited to welcome back these talented groups, ensuring an evening of music. As for our special guest, The Grump, we can’t wait to see what surprises he has in store. Guests can enjoy cookies, hot chocolate, hot cider, and coffee, along with engaging crafts and games for the kids.
Additionally, our very own The Island Resort bartender, Becca Gray, will kick off the event with a magical piano performance.
Beachy Little Christmas: A Sandcastle Spectacular
The Island Resort presents its 4th Annual, “A Beachy Little Christmas,” event this year on December 2, 2023, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. This occasion, open to both hotel guests and local families, will take place on the beach patio, offering a unique holiday experience. Guests can sip on hot chocolate while enjoying live music and getting creative with themed crafts.
The highlight of the event is the opportunity to meet the famous Misty the Mermaid, followed by a sandcastle-building session on the beach. Local sandcastle professionals will be on hand to offer tips and tricks to families as they build their Christmas-themed sandcastles. “A Beachy Little Christmas,” is a free event open to the public, making it a perfect way to celebrate the holidays by the gulf.
Cookies and Crafts with the Grump
The Island Resort is delighted to announce the arrival of everyone’s favorite green and grouchy holiday character, The Grump, along with his holiday-loving friend, Miss Cindy. On December 16 and 17, 2023, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., guests can visit The Grump, known for his “stink, stank, stunk” charm, and snap memorable photos.
While enjoying a cup of apple cider or hot chocolate, guests can enjoy live music. Following the music, families can engage in a fun and creative craft session. This festive holiday event is open to the public free of charge. This year, we’re excited to include face painting and a Whoville hair station, adding an extra festive touch to an already enchanting holiday experience.
New Addition for 2023: Christmas Craft and “Elf” Movie Screening
Mark your calendars for December 9th, as The Island Resort presents a new holiday addition and a special holiday treat in the lounge/bar area. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., guests can enjoy Christmas crafts and a screening of the beloved holiday classic movie, “Elf.” It’s the perfect movie to get into the holiday spirit with friends and family.
