Toothbrush Drive Brings BIG Smiles to Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy Center
Oral hygiene plays an extremely important role with not only the mouth but the entire body’s health. We all know that poor oral hygiene can lead to gum disease and tooth decay when left untreated. However, most do not know that poor oral hygiene can lead to heart disease, diabetes, cancer, premature birth, memory loss, and more. A person’s smile can change their outlook on life, having healthy teeth can improve self-confidence and success throughout life.
Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy Center is an amazing, non-profit organization that helps local children who have been taken from their homes due to neglect or abuse. Many of these children have to leave their homes quickly without having a chance to pack a bag, or in some cases, are never provided with important daily necessities like a toothbrush. This summer, our mission was to provide a toothbrush for each child in our area that does not have access to one.
We reached out to our local community, friends, and family and asked everyone to help us accomplish our goal by donating new toothbrushes from June 1 – August 1, 2019. We promised to match every donation made by the community, and boy we were thrilled to see how everyone jumped into action! Within two months we raised over 150 toothbrushes and as promised, match those donations to bring over 300 new toothbrushes to our local children!
